Today in this article we will be talking about the Government Of India Blocks 43 Mobile Apps. We all know, many things have been changed due to this Covid-19 pandemic situation. On one side the public got stuck at home whereas, on the other site, there got an increase in the boom of online platforms and their viewership. Same as with mobile applications too. This year Government has sticky looking after the security and privacy of the people and hence due to this, the Government is taking more actions against many things that are responsible for affecting the security and relevancy.
Recently we have heard the news about regulating the OTT platform, that was one of the action Government has taken by keeping mind the relevancy of the content. As per the mobile apps are concerns, the Government of India has already taken the action on this to keep the privacy of the public hidden and for the security of the data.
Mid this year 2020, the government of India has committed to protecting the sovereignty and integrity of India along with the interest of citizens on all fronts and stated they will take all possible steps to ensure that. An example of this, we have seen on 29th June 2020, the Government has banned a total of 59 mobile applications and blocked their access in India. Tiktok app was amongst the one from these 59 apps and due to banned of Tiktok many people have got unhappy. In between, we have heard some rumors about the Tiktok coming back but as of now, nothing has been announced about banned Tiktok. The Government hasn’t stopped there, later on, 2nd September 2020, the Government of India has banned a total of 118 more apps under Section 69A of the information technology App, which includes one of the famous PUBG game and all game lovers were disappointed after PUBG got banned. That was the second step on the mobile app government has taken in terms of the privacy of our public.
Government Of India Blocks 43 Mobile Apps
After the banning of the last 118 more apps, the Government has strictly ordered our cyber center to monitor each and every activity and they were keep monitoring. As a result of this, recently the Government has received a report from the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Center, the Ministry Of Home Affairs, more than 43 apps were disturbing the security. Hence, as per this report and keeping in mind the commitment of protecting the security, Ministry Of Electronics and Information Technology, the Government of India issued an order on Tuesday 24th November for blocking the access of these 43 apps by users in India under section 69A of the Information Technology Act.
These 43 Chinese apps which got banned by the government include e-commerce, dating, payment, video streaming, delivery, adult apps, etc. AliExpress was the famous shopping app that was also among these 43 to get banned. Along with AliExpress, Alisuppliers mobile app, Alipay cashier, Alibaba Workbench, Snack Video, Lalamove India, CamCard- Business card reader, Drive with Lalamove India, Camcard – BCR (western), Soul, Date in Asia, Chinese Social, Adore app, WeDate, TrulyAsian, Free dating app, TrulyChienese, DatemyAge, ChinaLove, Guys only dating, FlirtWish, AsianDate, First love live, Tubit, Rela, Weworkchina, MangoTV, WeTV-TV version, Cashier Wallet, WeTV- Cdrama, Kdrama&More, MGTV, Lucy live, WeTV Lite, Identity V, Taobao live, Isolation 2, DingTalk, Happy Fish, BoxStar, Jellipop match, Heroes evolved, Conquista Online II and Munchkin match: magic home building all total 43 got banned access.
This is a great step government has taken and this is the right time for our Indian tech and IT community to grab the opportunity and make our India Atmanirbhar.
