Raghava Lawrence’s 2011 hit Kanchana’s Hindi remake, Laxmmi bomb, is to be released on OTT platforms. Kanchana is a horror-comedy film about a vengeance-seeking ghost who had been wronged. She haunts everyone staying in her house. As the Laxmmi bomb is Kanchana’s remake, the storyline would be similar.
Akshay Kumar will be playing the role of a transgender in this film along with Kiara Advani who will be playing a character named Amisha.
Laxmmi Bomb will be produced by Tusshar Kapoor, Fox Star Studios, Cape Of Good Films, and Shabinaa Khan. The director of Kanchana, Raghava Lawrence, will be the director of the Laxmmi Bomb also.
Due to COVID-19, theatre releases were not possible as the government had ordered social distancing and lockdown. This, in turn, decreased the industry profit as the film industry had to postpone several movie releases Meanwhile, the online streaming is being increased significantly as people avail themselves of online resources while being at home.
Laxmmi Bomb’s Release Date
Laxmmi Bomb was 1st supposed to be released around Eid on May 22nd, but as some post-production works were said to be left pending, they had postponed it. During a virtual press conference that had been conducted on June 29th, it was announced that the Laxmmi Bomb would be released on OTT platforms, exclusively on Disney+Hotstar ‘Multiplex’ rather than in theatres.
Disney+Hotstar being one of the largest streaming platform present in India, it comes with geo-restrictions just like every other streaming services. Since the Laxmmi Bomb will only be released in India, viewers outside India won’t be able to watch this film unless you use a VPN. So, if you don’t have a VPN service, make sure to arrange one before it’s release.

There were many speculations surrounding the Laxmmi bomb and its release. It was once rumoured that the movie would be released on September 9th, which is also Akshay Kumar’s birthday, saying that this film would be a gift for his fans. It was also said that 9 was Akshay Kumar’s lucky number, the reason due to which, September 9 was chosen as the release date. There was also another rumour going around saying that, Laxmmi Bomb team decided to stop the digital release and would wait for the theatre to reopen after COVID-19. But later, it was proved that, all these speculations were indeed not true and that, they were just rumours.
Starring Akshay Kumar as Akshay Roy, Kiara Advani as Amisha, Tusshar Kapoor as Gaurav Roy, and Sharad Kelkar as the main casts, Laxmmi Bomb will be released on Disney+Hotstar on 9th November 2020.
