A historical marker has been set close to the river where two men in southern Mississippi said they were snatched by aliens in 1973. News companies report the city of Pascagoula dedicated the marker Saturday at Lighthouse Park.

Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker said they were on the shores of the Pascagoula River when what seemed to be aliens pulled them in a UFO, examined them for around 30 minutes and after that returned them to Earth.

Both detailed the event to the sheriff’s department and were looked at a medical clinic after it happened Oct. 11, 1973. The story has progressed toward becoming known around the world. Parker distributed a book about their experience in 2018. Hickson passed away in 2011.

Both said numerous individuals questioned their story. A couple of observers have approached to verify a few details.
